It is important to note that while PRAs have many similar requirements, each jurisdiction may have variations or unique conditions for licensure. Therefore, candidates are advised to review the application requirements of the jurisdiction where they wish to be licensed to confirm their eligibility to apply

Candidates who wish to become licensed pharmacists in Canada must apply directly to the pharmacy regulatory authority (PRA) in the province where they want to be licensed. In addition to applying through Pharmacists' Gateway Canada, candidates must also submit an application directly to the PRA in their desired province.

  1. Apply through Pharmacists’ Gateway Canada. This lets the PRA see your profile and documents. You can change your chosen PRA until you apply here but you cannot change it after you apply.

  2. Apply to the Pharmacy Regulatory Authority (PRA). Choose the province where you want to work and apply directly to the PRA of that province for example Alberta College of Pharmacists. Send extra documents and fees they need.

Remember:

  • Each province’s PRA might ask for different things.

  • Check the PRA’s requirements where you want to be licensed.

  • Once you submit your application, you can’t change it, but you can apply to a different PRA if needed.

  • For Ontario, wait for the Ontario College of Pharmacists to reach out after your first step.
